This is just one step we’re taking to reduce skill mixing and more are on the way.TESTINGThese next items are either in testing or will be soon and we’ll aim to share some results and decisions for future in-game changes in a future dev blog. Note: the dates of these tests haven’t and won’t be published to avoid outside influence, but we’ll circle back and share after our internal analysis is done.APEX BOTS (NPC)Bot Royale created an approachable way to build your skills and onboard with a squad, but when you’re ready for Unranked pubs you’re thrown into the thick of it. It’s clear that you’re looking for tighter and fairer matches, especially those who are newer and early-tier players. We’ve started testing something that we think will not only help developing players, but also deliver on the lobbies you’ve been looking for. We’ve slowly been introducing a small and deliberate amount of npc bots, “Apex Bots,” into lower-tier public lobbies. These bots only deploy as opponents and will be a full squad; your squad will not be filled. We want players to have fun playing Apex, and we see this as a potential path to deliver more of that, but we didn’t want to just drop them on you.Enemy bots don’t always create the best in-game experience, so it’s worth repeating that this is a test. We’ll be monitoring and measuring for impact in a few areas: decreasing skill width, decreasing overall queue wait times, and whether or not this helps players increase their game sense and combat effectiveness. We hope to have enough data for next steps by mid-season, so that we can report back and share updates and if we can leverage these Apex bots for increased game health in

Apex Legends has implemented numerous easter eggs. even since the very early release. Most of them are just for fun, like Nessie’s easter egg, or one of the developer’s cute dogs, Mirage’s cell phone, and many, many more. One of the easter eggs though comes actually really handy to use as a warm-up and it is a pretty good way to train your aim in-game. Fun fact is that Respawn was not aware of this addition, as one of the developers stated that he got it in the game since day one without telling the rest of his team!Below I will show you, step by step, how to trigger the bots that are placed in The Apex Legends’ Fire Range. You can follow the video and look for more specific information in the step-by-step explanation below the video!Step 1: Drop Your Weapon & AmmoThe first thing you do after entering Firing Range, using any Legend, is to drop your weapon and ammo.Step 2: Go to Last Spawn on Your LeftAfter you drop your weapon and ammunition, head outside of your spawn, turn left, and head in the last spawn (cave).Step 3: Press “M” & Choose PathfinderAfter you enter the last spawn (cave) on your left, press “M” and change to Pathfinder. If you entered firing Range with Pathfinder you can skip this step.Step 4: Grapple on the Metal Sheet AboveInside the cave, you will find a metal sheet hanging on the shielding. Grapple and land on this metal sheeting.Step 5: Crouch & Look DownWhen you successfully land on the metal sheet, crouch and look downwards. Beware that you need to look down in a very specific spot in order to trigger the bots, and it is usually the part that most people fail to do, so pay attention to the video to see the exact angle you have to look at.Step 6: Press “M” & Change LegendIf you made sure that you are looking in the right direction, press “M” again, and change Legend. If you still want Pathfinder, change to any Legend, and change back to Pathfinder, after you confirm the next step.Step 7: The Metal Sound Indicates That The Bots Are ActiveThe moment you will change Legend, you will hear metal grinding sound, which indicates that you succeded to activate the bots! If you don’t hear that sound, you will have to double-check if you did everything else right.StepAre There Bots In Apex Legends? - Botting Blog

For us and the fight continues as we work to put in safeguards and evolve our systems to stop and get ahead of cheaters. This is another topic that we’ll share updates on as often as we can, whether it’s through social updates or blogs.Today we’re sharing some advances we’ve made in combating teaming and botting, and an upcoming feature to better your reporting experience.TEAMINGWhile Apex is a team game at its core, it’s not a team’s team game. If you’ve not encountered this before, teaming is when multiple teams collude during a match for a shared goal. For those that have experienced this in the past, you might’ve noticed a decrease over the last few months. We’ve actively been targeting this negative behaviour in Ranked modes from multiple angles, including rolling out new automated teaming detection algorithms, swifter and more severe punishments, and stripping any ill-gotten ranked points from offenders. These efforts have led to action being taken on ~1,200 accounts across all platforms, including the removal of ~17.4 million ranked points, and we’ve seen a decrease in teaming thanks to this. We’ll continue to counter this exploitative practice and take appropriate action against bad actors. Teaming has no place in Apex.BOTTINGThere has been a recent increase in bots that’ve been circumventing our existing security measures and we’re actively working on addressing this. We’ve also created a brand new machine learning model that not only detects this new generation of bots, but was also built to be more future-proof to combat future variants and evolutions. At the time of writing this, our early reviews have found this new model to be incredibly accurate with low false negatives and we’re on track to have this in the live game by the time you’re reading this.Encountering bots like these in your playApex BOT 1.22 - Download

SBMM was first launched into Fortnite via the v10.40 update on September 25, 2019. This is the same update in which Epic Games introduced bots into the game. We’re introducing improved matchmaking logic to Battle Royale core modes to create fairer matches. We will slowly roll this out to all regions across Battle Royale core modes as we test and monitor how it performs.Fortnite Blog For those unaware of the skill-based matchmaking concept, it is an in-game system that evaluates, examines, and matches players based on overlapping skill levels. Simply put, SBMM creates a game lobby with players of similar skill. The concept attempts to make the gameplay experience fairer for every player. For example, Call of Duty Warzone's skill-based matchmaking is evidently despised by most players. As we know, CoD has always been a casual gaming experience, but Activision's disregard of the hot topic indicates that SBMM is here to stay. Other games, like Apex Legends, have separate ranked and public playlists. Apex Legends Ranked Leagues features SBMM similar to Fortnite Arena.
